In https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-ruby-driver/pull/1751 some CRUD verifiers were made into matchers. I believe this results in a loss of diagnostics when those matchers would fail to match as expected. To reinstate the diagnostics I think a possible solution is to move the code back from matchers to verifiers.
