The format test program should verify metadata files including durable history store as part of its normal runs, at the moment we don't have any normal testing that checks the durable history store file for corruption.

Because the metadata files are always open they can't be verified after the database is opened – perhaps the best solution would be to add a new option to wiredtiger open that verifies all metadata files.
