How are you planning on doing this? Right now, there is a handler for "visit_corrupt" handler if the original BSON can't be parsed, but there is no visitor handler for the wrong type. We would need that in order to implement HHVM-173 or PHPC-554 - at least, the throwing the right error message part of DRIVERS-281.
