 Description

To support MongoDB in other software components like Postfix SMTP server, we need to have official MongoDB driver packages in main-stream Linux and BSD distributions, like Ubuntu Server Linux or FreeBSD.
Specially libmongoc needs to be created as package, as most server software is written in C, and not C++.
Once this drivers are available as official stable packages, software could implement them as plugins.

Typically, Linux distributions want to maintain their own packaging scripts, and highly discourage downstream packaging (notably Debian).

However, now that the new C driver uses automake, we are largely there on making this dead simple for them. Fedora has already mentioned interest in libbson and the new C driver.
