 Description

The error "Failed to read 4 bytes from socket" seems to be the "go to error" when something happens to the socket.
This for example is easily reproducible with a failed X509 authentication failure.

It would be nice if the error message could be more userfriendly.

There's pretty much no way to avoid that network error without awareness of what semantic error is going on above (we need to see the error and understand that it's a result of an x509 auth failure).

If you'd like to open a ticket for this particular case (where you'd like to get a less generic error), feel free to open a new ticket.
