Environment:

Ubuntu 18.10

 Description

Step to reproduce:

  1. Download Mongo compass (1.16.4)
  2. Install it
  3. Run it
  4. Crash with :

$ mongodb-compass
 [1] 3752 segmentation fault (core dumped) mongodb-compass

This issue seems to have been solved in COMPASS-3232 but this is not the case (for me).

Users has found that 15.x and 16.x are problematic on Ubuntu 18.10, but 12.x is working fine: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53122804/mongodb-compass-cannot-be-opened-in-ubuntu-18-10

Hi Massimiliano,

It works! 1.18-beta is ok for me (able to connect to localhost).

BTW, it prints a warning at start:

$ mongodb-compass-beta
(electron) 'app.makeSingleInstance(cb)' is deprecated. Use 'app.requestSingleInstanceLock() and app.on('second-instance', cb)' instead.

Hi tom@tomsquest.com, we just released Compass 1.18-beta. The issue should now be fixed. Give it a try and let us know if you still have issues: https://www.mongodb.com/download-center/compass
