According to the MongoDB documentation regarding restrictions on collection names, a collection name may not begin with the prefix "system.". However, the Compass 1.17.0 collection summary list (displayed when clicking on a database name) also excludes valid/allowed collection names that do not have the final dot character, such as "systems" and "systematic". Please refer to the attached screenshot.

It's worthwhile to point out that the collections list on the left hand side does display these collections.
