Expose readPreference information in Compass UI (Suggestion)
completed (2 users)

 Description

Problem Description

From COMPASS-4278 Compass is capable of using custom Read Preference settings and tags if specified in the URI, however in the UI it is nowhere indicated which Read Preference mode is being used.

Steps to Reproduce

Connect with a URI similar to:

mongodb+srv://admin:pwd@cluster2.fu4ty.mongodb.net/test?readPreference=secondary&readPreferenceTags=nodeType:ANALYTICS

Expected Results

The UI should clearly indicate that Read Preference secondary and tag ANALYTICS is being used for read operations.

Actual Results

The expected information is nowhere present.

Additional Notes

As a result the users have no way to tell if the specified URI options are actually in effect.

dmitry.ryabtsev this is more of a feature request than it is a bug. As such, I moved it to our feedback portal: https://feedback.mongodb.com/forums/924283-compass/suggestions/42382660-expose-readpreference-information-in-compass-ui.

We are evaluating a redesign of the side bar and we will include this information in the new concept.
