Currently in Compass we resolve srv records each time we need to parse the connection string: every time the url changes for whatever reason, before we connect and when we go from the uri editing to the fields mode. If the resolution has issues the connection form becomes unusable due to frequent timeouts and errors that are not really actionable. In particular going from the connection string to connection fields will cause a loading bar to appear and compass to be stuck in the meanwhile the dns query is running. |
