 Description

Since we have no uninstallation binary, where are all of the files stored on a Mac machine?

This would be useful in creating a 100% "clean install" that is needed for customer reproductions.

Compass 1.29. or newer is preferable. Although I realize other directories were used in the past.

Not sure why this is a blocker. Anyways, here are the answers to your questions:

  • The application itself is stored in /Applications (or wherever you drag and drop the Compass icon from the DMG you download). To uninstall Compass, you can just delete it from where it was installed. This is pretty common for macOS applications.
  • User files are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/MongoDB Compass (or MongoDB Compass Beta). If you delete that folder, you start fresh every time. It's pretty common to leave those folders there when the user uninstall apps on macOS so the data is still there should the app be installed later on.

At this time we are not planning to add an uninstall binary to delete binary and user data.
