 Description

Problem Statement/Rationale

What is going wrong? What action would you like the Engineering team to take?

When I copy and paste the $search command from the Search Tester, the aggregation pipeline does not strip out the brackets and $search and does not populate the command drop down with $search like Atlas does. This means that if I copy paste the $search command from Search tester, I get no results, when I should be getting results.

Please be sure to attach relevant logs with any sensitive data redacted.

See movie with the recording of the behavior in Atlas and in Compass

Steps to Reproduce

How could an engineer replicate the issue you’re reporting?

Create Search index

Navigate to Search tester (click on Query button in the table with the index)

Type a word in the search bar, i.e. hello

Click the View Query Syntax button

Copy the copy (use Copy button)

Paste the code into the aggregation pipeline in Compass

Expected Results

What do you expect to happen?

I expect for the aggregation pipeline text to be properly formatted and to get search results

Actual Results

What do you observe is happening?

No search results are displayed

ksenia.samokhvalova@mongodb.com , thanks for reporting this!  We've discussed this within the team and we're working on edit pipeline as text as a replacement, but do not intend to replicate this exact functionality.
