 Description

In order to improve the integration of Compass changes in DE we want to spot issues as early as possible.

We want to investigate the possibility to trigger the Evergreen pipeline that runs Data Explorer e2e tests with a pre-release version of Compass NPM packages.

The following workflow should be possible (cc: sergey.petushkov@mongodb.com):

After the EVG pipeline succeeds on main:

  • all the packages are published to NPM with a pre-release version and tagged by commit sha
  • the DE e2e pipeline is triggered and the sha is passed as an argument
  • As part of e2e pipeline, the DE automation installs the packages published before running e2e tests

This doesn't seem something we want to do in the long run, and it will be rendered unnecessary by the Data Centric initiative for Atlas developers.
