 Description

Problem Statement/Rationale

What is going wrong? What action would you like the Engineering team to take?

Please be sure to attach relevant logs with any sensitive data redacted.

Compass Readonly keeps on replacing the currently saved item in the system clipboard by some string, a few fractions of seconds or few seconds after anything else (text, image, ...) is copied instead or when the system clipboard is cleared. **

The string it keeps on saving in the clipboard has been observed to change, it is currently not even something I've copied from Compass, but a variable name from VSCode.

It seems Compass Readonly still replaces the clipboard after it has been Quit.

A coworker has been seeing this as well, and we were both seeing the special string being "error".

Steps to Reproduce

How could an engineer replicate the issue you’re reporting?

No idea at the moment, happy to help investigate.

Compass read/write version does not seem to cause trouble in that area. Version 1.35.0 (1.35.0)

Expected Results

What do you expect to happen?

Compass not replacing current clipboard any time it changes.

Actual Results

What do you observe is happening?

Additional Notes

Any additional information that may be useful to include.

Hi maxime.crampon@protonmail.com , following up on this. We need some additional information from you before we can continue troubleshooting this issue:

  • When did this start to happen? In 1.36.2? Does it happen in other recent versions?
  • Are you able to test the normal (non-readonly) build to see if it happens there?
  • And when you say it happens even when compass is closed, do you mean just the window and is the app still running in the background? (ie. the app is still in the doc with a dot below the icon) or is it fully exited?
  • Is it possible to include some log files?
  • Does the same thing happen without Maccy?

Oh and does the same thing happen without Maccy?

Thanks for reporting! That's a weird one.

Is it possible to include some log files?

I was wrong, the number of copies actually keeps on increasing even when no copying something else of clearing the clipboard. See attached updated screenshot of counter to have an idea of number of copies per minute
