Ah, this was it. I was using the database creators connection, however they seemed to have less permissions than me. Logged in with my own account and it was working.

Hi jontemcatton@gmail.com, as the error message says it doesn't look like you have enough permissions. Executing $indexStats requires the user to have privileges that include indexStats action, see documentation. Please check that the database user you are using in Compass has enough privileges |
