| Description |
Problem Statement/RationaleWhen I open Compass, every so often it will say there is a new version of Compass available. When you click the OK or Update (don't remember the button label), nothing happens. Please be sure to attach relevant logs with any sensitive data redacted. Steps to ReproduceOn windows, open Compass when there is an update available. You should get the "there is an update available" dialog. Click OK or Update, whatever the button label is, and you will see that nothing happens. In fact, I have NEVER seen it work. Expected ResultsI would expect a dialog to be displayed indicating the update had been performed. When you don't get a confirmation dialog, you have no idea if you got updated or not. Actual ResultsI will tell you that the update doesn't happen because I have said yes to the update, but low and behold, the next time you open Compass you get the same, annoying dialog that does nothing. Additional NotesAny additional information that may be useful to include. |

Well, this made a liar out of me just now, but...
I clicked on the install button, and guess what... It DID update!!! Your comment about the Windows MSI made me think about something. As I indicated in this or my other issue which you closed a bit ago, I am a developer who is managing other developers. Some of these junior guys seemingly need to be spoon fed so I wrote some utilities to install and configure their environments. In one of the scripts, I install both MongoDB and Compass via winget and NOT the installer. I am just making the point that in certain instances, Compass was installed by an MSI and others were installed by winget... Therein may lie the problem! Just food for thought. Cheers! Steve
