 Description

Our current code style has opening braces on lines by themselves.

At least two members of the team have expressed a preference to allow the opening brace to be part of the previous line of code e.g.

// current style:
if (...)
{
  // blah
}

// proposed change
if (...) {
 // blah
}

If a majority of the team prefers this style, perhaps we should consider using it.

I sympathize with the request because I also personally favor K&R style with the opening braces on the same line. In fact, for the first few years of this project's life that was the brace style we used. No matter what style we use there will always be those who disagree with it.

We decided years ago to switch to the Visual Studio defaults because that is what most of our community of users uses.

Changing brace style (again) at this point would be counterproductive. We should just stick with the current style.
