 Description

The log path is editable on the individual mongod. Just tested and automation restarted mongod with the new log path and subsequently wrote to the new log file.

  • log path can be changed from the Process modification panel.
  • hostname, port, and dbPath still cannot be changed (generally)
  • All process arguments can be changed otherwise.

Yeah, we won't be using templates in the same way for the new redesign.

dennis.kuczynski wow.
I guess there is already the ongoing process of refactoring UI? This one is quite misleading - coming to the property panel for the replicaset/cluster, clicking "modify" but not modifying in fact!

Comment by Dennis Kuczynski [ 22/Nov/17 ]

anton.lisovenko That's not a bug.
The weird piece is that port range, dbpath prefix, and server regexp are fields of the template uses to generate new items. So changing the dbpath prefix will change the prefix used to build the path for new processes, but it will not affect existing processes.

I believe this is a bug.
Tested locally in CloudManager mode: for high level deployment unit (replicaset or sharded cluster) I can click "modify" button and can do anything I do when I spawn new mongod processes:

  • change ports range
  • change the dbpath directory
  • server regexp

I tried to change the data directory. After clicking "apply" and clicking "deploy changes to agents" (there was no diff shown though) it said that changes were deployed successfully. The mongodb processes configurations were not changed, they were not restarted - the new directory stayed empty. So nothing was done by automation agent at all. So this means that UI configuration and real deployment configuration diverged.

james.broadhead dennis.kuczynski can you look into above and say if this is a bug?

tony.sansone as far as I'm aware you still can't change the hostname or dbpath - you can change logpath, or other CLI options to the mongod though.
