We will update our documents to reflect this issue. For your information, the UUID command is documented to require an argument in our 3,4 docs.

Hi, thank you for the additional information.

I was able to reproduce your issue in Mongodb version 3.4.9 and 3.6.2 (rc6).

Can you please provide us with your mongodb version by typing this into the mongo shell:

db.version();

Thank you.

I was able to get this to work against atlas.

Cluster0-shard-0:PRIMARY> UUID()
UUID("fed195ed-0feb-4e10-95c2-dd0bb3859cb4")

Can you please provide more information regarding the MongoDB environment you are working in?

Thank you.
