mongos processes will connect to the config and the replica set mongod processes using whatever internal authentication mechanism is set. Thus, if keyfile is set, the communication between all these processes will be done via SCRAM-SHA-1. This is worth noting in the Internal Authentication section in the MongoDB Manual. |
