Regardless of policy, at minimum a short-term fixup here is to document that as of now, MongoDB does support cross-arch data file portability with a few notable exceptions (as noted above). If we decide that we want full support for cross-arch portability, then once the fix is in (and backported as necessary, we can document when the exception cases are resolved. If there are other exception cases, we can try to get those dealt with as well. I would venture a HELP ticket might be necessary to capture discussion on the subject?
