Description

Documentation: Configure Deployment to Have Limited Internet Access

https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/tutorial/configure-local-mode/index.html#prerequisites**

Has the following statements (under Local Mode):

For Backup Daemons or MongoDB Agents to install or upgrade MongoDB deployments, you must:

  • Download the MongoDB Server and MongoDB Database Tools installer binaries for each edition, version, and platform you need to support from another internet-connected device.
  • Load the MongoDB Server and MongoDB Database Tools installer binaries to each Ops Manager host.

and also this one:

If you are running Ops Manager 4.4 or later, download and install the MongoDB Database Tools like mongodump and mongorestore for each platform and version where you need to support.

Notice the 2 statements above provide a link to download the MongoDB Database Tools package without describing to which directory/path it should be installed on the Ops Manager server.

On the other hand, our Kubernetes Operator documentation makes that very clear where this package should be installed. See step 7 and 8 of this page https://docs.mongodb.com/kubernetes-operator/master/tutorial/deploy-om-container-local-mode/#download-the-mongodb-installation-archive-to-your-local-machine

Back to the Ops Manager page https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/tutorial/configure-local-mode/index.html#prerequisites.**

Step 3 states:

On all your Ops Manager hosts, including those with enabled Backup Daemons, you must copy all of the archived binaries to the directory specified in the Versions Directory.

However the above statement refer to MongoDB binaries downloaded from MongoDB Download Center, which is a different package than MongoDB Database Tools

The MongoDB Database Tools package should also be installed in the Versions Directory , but our documentation is not clear about that and I already had a customer asking about it.

When reading this page, people come across (twice) the link to download the MongoDB Database Tools package without any explanation where to install it.
