Thanks for the feedback! We've passed this along to the engineering team so going to close out this DOCS ticket out on our end.

andrew.feierabend thanks, yes that's kind of the plan but since we don't fully test this formula on linux I feel like it may be easier to just remove (this has been broken since day one and it took this long for someone to find out), we were doing it as this is autogenerated and decided on a why not but the other day we also got an internal report that the whole mongo brew repo is un tab-able in ARM due to how our formula is generated but since no other repo supports linux this is not a priority for us to fix (tho we have a bug report on the library that generates the formula about it)

yes, this is an issue on our side, not on the formula but on the things we package, when we add 3rd party licenses one of those is added with restricted permissions so it looks like for linux extracting those are giving a weird error. We had never tried the linux formula so I'm more inclined to remove linux support than try to fix this

vatsal.shah Thank you for this report.

This is an issue with the mongocli brew formula. We've reached out to the mongocli team.

Team:

I've attached repro steps indicating that the issue exists with the Linux TGZ package for both versions 1.5 and 1.6
