 Description

Update: Ubuntu 16.04 is EOL. Thus remove the instructions and mentions here: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-enterprise-on-ubuntu-tarball/#install-mongodb-enterprise-edition

Ubuntu 16.04 is missing from this page (for enterprise dependencies to install) – and should be missing (see comments in this ticket).

https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/tutorial/provisioning-prep/index.html#installing-mongodb-enterprise-dependencies

I was able to find the information here :

https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-enterprise-on-ubuntu-tarball/#install-mongodb-enterprise-edition

I will remove the 16.04 tab instructions from Prod notes. Reopened the ticket for that.

See the last comment in this ticket for the reason to close it without making changes: "Ubuntu 16.04 is EOL on ALL branches of OM, as of April 21st".

Confirmed with Tony also and closing this ticket as "Won't do". Validation: According to the [Ops Manager Platform Roadmap]|https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nTvZ2cTg2Ef2XweyV1ZBb7BMSYO4eKqXszfqkpBsOPM/edit#gid=0], Ubuntu 1.604 has a comment for OM 4.4 that reads: "On April/21 Ubuntu 16 was EOL'd on all branches". This applies to OM 4.4 as well.

tony.sansone Please see the answer from Filipe above. This suggests we should NOT reinstate Ubuntu 16 at all, because it is EOL. Please let me know to whom can I escalate this ticket to tell us whether this ticket is valid or not.

Hi julia.malkin the reason why to remove Ubuntu 16.04 across the board is this ticket CLOUDP-66020, Ubuntu 16 was EOL as of April/21. If you look at our downloads and archive pages you will see we removed all mentions of Ubuntu 16 and left Ubuntu 18.

Also this spreadsheet should be the source of truth about compatibilities and Ubuntu 16 was EOL'd.

filipe.menezes In this comment, you told me to remove Ubuntu 16.04, which I did, in that PR. This ticket is asking to REVERT these changes for 4.4. The changes were made as part of your tech review for Ops Manager 4.9. I then backported the entire PR to 4.4 which introduced this issue.

Is the issue such that for Ops Manager 4.9, Ubuntu 16.01 must be removed, but not for Ops Manager 4.4? That is, backporting of that PR didn’t have to be done wholesale? I will make the changes once you confirm. Thank you!

tony.sansone if this is urgent, please assign to yourself, I won't have time for this until the 14th.

Comment by Julia Malkin [ 08/Jun/21 ]

The tech review for that PR requested that I remove Ubuntu 16.04 explicitly, and so I did. I will reinstate Ubuntu 16.04.

julia.malkin: This Backport removed Ubuntu 16.04 support information from OM 4.4 on the  dependencies section of the Deployment Requirements page. According to the MongoDB Ops Manager Platform Roadmap, OM 4.4 still supports Ubuntu 16.04.

Can you rollback the pages that remove Ubuntu 16.04 information on the 4.4 version of OM and republish? Thanks!
