Engineering Description Problem Statement/RationaleWhen using mongodump on a distant database with --gzip option, the zipping process is performed on "client". So data is "flat" transferred, which consume a lot more data and slow down the dumping process. This is quite summed up here : https://www.mongodb.com/community/forums/t/mongodump-gzip-distant-database/211653 Steps to ReproduceRun mongodump on a distant database Expected ResultsIt would be nice that when using the --gzip option, the data would be zipped before being transfered on the network Actual ResultsFrom tests i did data is zipped on client side Additional NotesAny additional information that may be useful to include. |
