| Description |

We often see cases where mongodb linux setups will have appropriate hard ulimit settings but soft limits are too low. Please modify our documentation to make as clear as possible that both hard and soft limits should be set to our recommended values. The more visible we can make this the better. Our ulimit page is: I would also make our ulimit warning on http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/administration/production-notes/ more explicit. Current we state "A low ulimit will affect MongoDB when under heavy use and will produce weird errors.". I would go further and state that a low ulimit could lead to failed connections to mongodb processes and loss of service. |
