When setting up a sharded cluster with authentication, if you add the first user before you add a shard, you won't be able to log in. The documents should state that the user has to add at least one shard prior to adding the first user when started in auth/keyfile mode. |

After asking around and re-testing, this issue appears to have been resolved in at least 3.0+ |
