| Description |
|
We have a lot of CS tickets / consulting engagements that end in needing to adjust (usually turn down) disk readahead. We should have some documentation around the affects of disk read-ahead, how to view and change it, and when it's a good idea to do so. We should also have a page "Why isn't mongo using all available RAM?" that links to this page. |

I'll go ahead and close this since we do have the line in prod notes about readahead settings. Of course, the prod notes are currently undergoing review and updates, so feel free to comment on the code reviews as they happen. |

Not sure where we are with this but the documentation on disk readahead should include the method for persisting settings described at: and also the udevadm approach addressed in this linked ticket to improve that same page. |
