RHEL & CentOS 6 put in place a max process limitation of 1024 (set in /etc/security/limits.d/90-nproc.conf), which overrides ulimit settings. Please reference this in MongoDB ulimit documentation as we frequently see production deployments where this limit is in place. See this blog post for an overview of the issue. |
