So frustrating in the documentation is that each command does not come with a required set of permissions in the documentation. I would expect to see something like: copydb: mongo version >2.4 require [blah] role This is very frustrating, as I have now tried a whole bunch of different roles for each command, and without a reference, this is slowing me down immensely. I am still unable to tell which role is required for db.copyDatabase() - all I can see is "admin priviliges", which has been superceded by roles in 2.4 that I can see. Anyway having this documentation would be very helpful. Reporter: Geoff |

All user roles and associated actions are documented here: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/user-privileges/ If you use legacy-form documents in system.user documents, then the old permission scheme (admin/normal) continue to work (unless explicitly disabled.) We will leave this ticket open to track including information about required authentication on the actual command reference pages. |
