Looking for documentation on the difference between mongos and mongod logs? Is there any reason to have both running? Does mongos provide you with something that you can not get from a mongod log file? |

Yes, the mongos and mongod logs provide reporting for each processes activity and state and do not duplicate the exact same information: both are useful. If you experience an issue with some of the cluster infrastructure or a mongos itself, you will want to have the mongos logs for diagnostic purposes. However, log retention policies are probably a matter of personal preference and organizational requirements. I hope this helps. (In truth questions like this are probably best addressed to one of our support channels. http://www.mongodb.org/about/support/) |
