 Description

Over here:

http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/tutorial/resync-replica-set-member/#resync-a-member-of-a-replica-set

It says,

Stop the member’s mongod instance. To ensure a clean shutdown, use the db.shutdownServer() method from the mongo shell or on Linux systems, the mongod --shutdown option.

What's the --shutdown option? I don't think it exists. Better to tell people to just use kill but without -9.

Oh, and Google can't find it. Lovely. Sorry for the false alarm.

we do: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/program/mongod/#cmdoption--shutdown

there is a known sphinx issue that prevents the cross referencing of runtime options/flags, which may be part of the confusion.

My mistake. Should we document that option in the manual?

It only exists on linux builds.
