The APT source line is wrong, it results in the following error if you use it: W: Failed to fetch http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/ubuntu-upstart/dists/dist/Release Unable to find expected entry '10gen/binary-amd64/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Here's the original line: echo 'deb http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/ubuntu-upstart dist 10gen' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb.list Here the word "10gen" in this should be replaced with "mongodb", then apt-get update is happy. |

It seems that the repository configuration is now changed back, as reported by Mr. Mike Stringer in my blog comments |

I tested the solution and it works. I had reported the same issue before finding this. |
