This page: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/core/sharded-cluster-security/ discusses how the users created on a shard are independent than those created through mongos. This page, however, is not linked from anywhere in the security section of the docs. We should make this page more discoverable. Also, looking at that page, it's not immediately obvious what the take-away point is. I think we should have a clear sentence or note upfront saying that users defined on a shard and users defined through mongos are a completely independent set of users, so it's really clear right away when you visit that page. |
