 Description

Our MMS online documentation does not has any indication about the new binary MMS monitoring agent. This is causing issues with the new settings that may not be clear to the users of the new monitoring agent which is default download at the moment from the MMS settings page.

Also PyMongo based monitoring agent will go away soon and that would break documentation completely.

Sam, I see what you mean. Those look very generic steps and I don't know how that concurs with steps to install python agent mentioned here http://mms.mongodb.com/help/monitoring/tutorial/set-up-mms/ (see Step 4).

With the new go based agent we now have a configuration file that has various parameters and I believe we need some more documentation on these setting like the way it is for Backup Agent. For the specific issue I was looking at, it seems lack of SSL related documentation for new monitoring agent (similar to backup agent - http://mms.mongodb.com/help/backup/tutorial/configure-backup-agent/) is causing confusion for the user.

I hope that helps.

Please hard refresh, the page includes both instructions for the go agent, and the python agent (which is still required because of kerberos support and authentication support).

Yes, because these instruction for the older Python based monitoring agent. MMS team has released a binary MMS agent (Go-lang based) that is downloaded by default now and the documentation does not reflect anything about the new MMS agent. This change happened about a week ago in MMS.

Running through the monitoring agent download page - https://mms.mongodb.com/settings/monitoring-agent, you should be able to see how / what has changed.

This page has up-to-date instructions for the new agent.

Is this still a problem?
