 Description

The default size of the oplog is 192Mb on OS X. I couldn't find any mention of this in the documentation:
http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/core/replication/#replica-set-oplog-sizing

However, Kyle's "MongoDB in Action" book has a footnote on "larger of 1GB of 5% of free disk space" on p.167:
[7] Unless you're running on OS X, in which case the oplog will be 192MB. This smaller size is due to the assumption that OS X machines are development machines.

That is just for 64bit (non-osx) – note that 32bit don't get 5% of free space. OSX is special and gets a smaller oplog – not meant for production basically.
