 Description

This is sort of massive for one ticket, but we could use better API docs than http://api.mongodb.org/js/current/ for shell JS.

Server team will take this task on, but I'd like to leave in the DOCS jira project.

no need to create an additional issue.

we can rename the /js directory, but we'll have to keep the old links working...

Yes, but the url shouldn't be "/js", but "/shell" (or shell-js or something). It should also not be listed on the api page under drivers since it is the shell, and very different than the rest. I will create an issue for adding node.js to the page.

(i have the change to add js to api staged, and it'll go in a few moments.)

This ticket refers to the shell JS.

We can add node.js to the api page, separably.

Comment by Scott Hernandez (Inactive) [ 20/Feb/13 ]

This is not the javascript driver, but our shell. http://api.mongodb.org/js/

The api page should list the javascript driver (node.js) not our shell javascript wrappers – it is not a driver but a shell interface with some scripting support.

I've updated http://api.mongodb.org/js/ to include more recent versions of the server.

I think improving the documentation of JS should probably be a server bug? I'm not sure what the best way is to handle this. Your thoughts and advocacy on this point are more than welcome.

In any case, I'm going to move the priority of this ticket down.
