 Description

I need to downgrade from the automatically-installed 2.6 to v2.4. I've followed the instructions at http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-ubuntu/ but I get and error that the version wasn't found - with version ranging from "2.4" to "2.4.10".

Dan, the package structure and name changed between 2.4 and 2.6, and therefore so did the installation instructions. You can find the appropriate installation instructions for 2.4 by changing the version of the documentation at the upper left at docs.mongodb.org. Similarly, if you go to http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/ubuntu-upstart/dists/dist/10gen/binary-amd64/, you can see that 2.4.10 has the package name "mongodb-10gen" and is not split up into multiple packages in the same way that the 2.6.x series is.

A note will be added to the documentation indicating the change, but otherwise this works as designed.

Posted the question at http://serverfault.com/questions/613308/how-exactly-do-i-install-mongodb-2-4-instead-of-the-latest-version - is my answer correct?
