Interesting. I'm starting to suspect this problem is platform-specific and varies based on the package. It sounds like on some platforms the munin-node user and plugin user(s) are properly setup and managed for an unprivileged user, while on other platforms it's not. E.g., I'm looking at munin running on Ubuntu 14.04 server on AWS, where its iostat_ios plugin is running correctly, and its state file is owned by `nobody` and with file permissions 664 (and was setup out of the box this way). Aside: 773 is a rather unusual file permission - is that really the intention? I'd expect 766 if nothing else. Edit: basically I wonder if we're solving the problem the correct way, versus an issue with the munin-node or iostat_ios plugin not configured for the correct unprivileged user with access to the state file. |
