 Description

When the heading of a 'parent' page (a page with some child pages on the same topic) is clicked on in the navigation bar, it just toggles folding of that section of the nav bar.

This is not helpful, since these 'parent' pages have unique content that a user may wish to read - they are not simply topic headings in the navigation bar. The only way to get to these pages seems to be to click on the 'breadcrumb trail' link at the top of the page, which is unintuitive and frustrating.

It would be better if the nav bar allowed direct navigation to these pages. Folding/unfolding should be triggered only by a click on the '+' or '-' prefix of a listing in the nav bar.

As we reorg the docs, we're moving away from pages that don't load – as in, most pages, if you click on the NAV should load on the right hand side. So, I think that should take care of it when we finish the reorg.

Hi yutaro.mori,

I don't have a list of specific pages to hand, but I would say that it's useful to load all non-leaf pages, even if those pages only contain a table of contents of their children. Also, IMO it is infeasible to maintain the whitelist as the content changes, and better to change the behaviour of the navigation bar so that it provides a more intuitive experience.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

Thanks for reporting this. Could you link here the specific pages you're referring to? We manually whitelist non-leaf nodes that have important content so that the page loads. An example would be Replica Set Members.

I browsed around a bit and I also noticed that some nodes have content yet doesn't trigger a page load (i.e. Replica Set Secondary.
