The following are some key performance indicators for MongoDB. They should be called out, along with an explanation of what they mean and what values are normal and problematic.

  • MMS Entries
    • lock% (for 2.0)
    • background flush average
    • page faults
    • queued reads or writes
    • oplog reserve time ('replica' in MMS)
    • replication lag
  • OS indicators
    • $ iostat --xm 2 20
    • $ blockdev --report
