 Description

the legend in the compatibily matrices for the drivers should be the following:

green - supported. compatible. anything incompatible will be fixed.

yellow - unsupported. minor incompatibilities may exist.

red - unsupported. incompatible.

anything that was previously orange (which should only be the case for perl and python) should be yellow.

We've been at this bikeshed several times, but I'm happy to keep trying. How about:

  • green → "supported; all server features implemented"
  • yellow → "supported; some minor server features may not be implemented"
  • red → "unsupported; incompatible or not recommended with this version of the server"
Comment by Andre Spiegel [ 06/Apr/15 ]

I'm afraid "minor incompatibilities may exist" is still too weak or too dangerous a statement. For all that matters, it could in fact mean "one in every ten thousand documents may be corrupt". We need to explicitly say that all driver features are tested & supported, but that the driver does not have the ability to use some of the more recent features of the database.

I believe we've confused customers with the yellow. I think we want it to be "supported. minor incompatibilities may exist:" because we have some drivers we do support, but that have minor gaps.

Only red should be "unsupported".

barrie please confirm.

i just want to make sure that the descriptions will include compatibility info. not just 'supported' or 'unsupported'.

UPDATE:

please refer to the updated perl and python matrices here for the new color scheme for those drivers (instead of batch changing all orange to yellow). there should be no change for all other drivers.
