 Description

Now and then when uploading files to GridFS the upload may fail part way through due to interruptions in network connectivity. This results in orphaned chunks in the fs.chunks collection that are not associated with any entry in the fs.files collections.

We should document the phenomenon, and document how to find and clean up these orphaned chunks.

kay.kim that command is used for locating and cleaning orphan documents in a sharded cluster. I believe the issue is related to GridFS and orphans in fs.chunks.

Hey Allison – the cleanupOrphaned command finds orphaned chunks and removes them.
