For example, the install instructions for Ubuntu (http://docs.mongodb.org/v2.6/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-ubuntu/) explicitly mention installing 2.6.1:
To hedge against users copy and pasting these instructions (and therefore getting a version that is very out of date), update the instructions to use 2.6.9. This probably only needs to be done as a 1 off, rather than being kept automatically up to date |

This is also the case for the other specific Linux distros, ie: http://docs.mongodb.org/v2.6/tutorial/install-mongodb-on-red-hat/ By contrast, the "Other Linux", OSX and Windows 2.6 installation instructions refer to 2.6.9. |
