 Description

"MongoDB cannot move a chunk if the number of documents in the chunk exceeds either 250000 documents or 1.3 times the number of average sized documents that the maximum chunk size can hold."

It would be helpful if this could be expanded to provide a rationale for "1.3 times" and to give an example to help users understand it.

Thanks Emet. I guess it was there on the version of MongoDB at the time when I opened the ticket in 2015.

ger.hartnett@mongodb.com upon looking at http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/limits/ there is no where in the page where it states "MongoDB cannot move a chunk if the number of documents in the chunk exceeds either 250000 documents or 1.3 times the number of average sized documents that the maximum chunk size can hold.", therefore there was nothing to update. Let us know if our impression is in correct, thank you! CC: ashley.brown@mongodb.com sarah.olson@mongodb.com
