The OpsManager documentation clearly indicates that if a cluster is managed, then you can't use the mongo shell to create a role: https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/tutorial/manage-mongodb-roles/#considerations The core server documentation should probably also indicate this, too. Maybe here: http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/command/createRole/ |

When this aspect of OpsManager goes away, so can the documentation in the core server manual. |
