 Description

In this page https://docs.mongodb.org/manual/core/security-encryption-at-rest/#encryption-process the term system key is used for what we now call the master key

master key - The key used to encrypt the database keys and the system key (labeled system key in the referenced docs page)

system key - The key used to encrypt the WT metadata (we probably don't need to mention that key in the docs)

You are absolutely correct.

andreas.nilsson In step four here, we say

During the initial sync process, the re-encryption of the data with an entirely new set of database keys as well as a new system key occurs

My suspicion is that that is indeed the system key used to encrypt WT metadata, since we correctly use master key everywhere else on that page, but I wanted to double check.
