Existing scripts work with SUSE, too.

Ok, so it looks like there's nothing to document for Ops Manager, correct? And as far as mongodb-org packages, it looks the current docs say to use "service mongod" to stop/start. So I think there's nothing to document here at all and this ticket can just be closed.

Looks like /etc/init.d/mongodb-mms start, systemctl start mongodb-mms, and service mongodb-mms start all work for starting Ops Manager on Suse 12. Systemd probably just redirects to the init scipt and service definitely redirects to systemd. For starting the database process, the mongodb-org packages include systemd unit files instead of init scripts, so only systemctl start mongod or service mongod start will work (at least with the 3.4 packages).

I think this ticket is to document that Ops Manager on SUSE is to be started/stopped/restarted using an init script rather than running:
(There are currently places such as here that tell the user to use "sudo service" if they are using an RPM. SUSE uses RPMs but you cannot run "sudo service" on SUSE) . How to execute the init script I do not know. I have tried spinning up a test SUSE Ops Manager instance to try it out myself but I have been unsuccessful. Ops Manager doesn't seem to get installed for me joshua.matthews Do you know the exact command line for the init script? |
