During installation on 16.04 the following message is displayed "invoke-rc.d: mongod.service doesn't exist but the upstart job does. Nothing to start or stop until a systemd or init job is present." Attempts to start the service at the end of the installation failed with a file not found message. Apparently the /lib/systemd/system/mongod.service is missing. I found this page with a description of the same problem that included content for the missing file. Once the file was created, the mongod would start. |
