tony.sansone, had a question from the field about documentation on s3 - looks like we haven't published anything yet? Given the huge benefits of this type of backup we should highlight it front and center in the Backup intro materials. E.g., where we have backup flows, we should consider adding a chart for S3 - or re-thinking the multiple diagrams and how we can incorporate S3. I did ultimately create a POD for this feature: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wRuKAosBRFBnJEJMcVYLava90XWCRhz52tX82OQ0Lm8/edit Let me know if it's easier to chat about it |

We don't. I can provide screen shots from the admin pages once they're ready. Have a chat with Jordan Somerlus on how he wants to position the S3 Snapshot Store for OM. In terms of implementation, the customer is responsible for provisioning an S3 bucket in their own AWS account (we should include recommendations on how to do this), snapshots will be deduped and compressed and stored in S3. Metadata will be stored in a local db which they will have to provision. Basically the S3 snapshots store except that blocks are stored in S3 instead of mongodb. |
