The existing documentation only shows that this startup option exists, but should have examples on how to set it up, work with remote hosts (syslogd) and configure it. I believe this is best practice for Dev Ops when running multiple servers running MongoDB in replication or sharding. Having all the logs in a single server or more it's easier to find and diagnose problems. |
